Small-business website costs:
upfront vs monthly.

To compare website quotes, write down what you will pay before launch, what you will pay afterward and what work each payment covers. Put both proposals on the same calendar. A monthly price tells you little until you know when it starts and what the provider will do each month.

Compare the same costs over the same period

Choose a period, such as your first year, and ask each provider to fill in these amounts:

Costs to compare in each website proposal
CostWhat to confirm
BuildTotal upfront payment, deposit schedule and any balance due at launch
Monthly serviceCharge, first payment date, minimum term and included work
Domain and hostingRegistration, renewal and hosting charges already included or billed separately
Other servicesForms, booking tools, paid software or other agreed additions
ChangesRevision allowance and how work outside that allowance is priced

Calculate your comparison total as upfront payments + monthly charge × number of payments + separately billed costs + applicable tax.

Count the actual payment dates within your chosen period. If hosting and domain renewal are included in the monthly price, do not add them again. Ask for the renewal price and what happens after any introductory rate ends.

Match the scope to the website you need

Before comparing totals, list your services, the information a customer needs and the action you want them to take. Then ask where each item will appear.

A single page can suit a business with a compact service list and one clear contact action. If you need detailed pages for several services or locations, a product catalog, or a booking system, have the provider price that work explicitly. A section on one page and a separate page are different deliverables.

Ask who writes the copy, supplies the images and checks the contact path. Record how many revision rounds are included and what counts as a new request. Those answers help you compare proposals that use the same word, “website,” for different amounts of work.

How NoWeekends charges

Our current package is $2,000 USD upfront, then $300 per month, before applicable tax. The first monthly charge is one calendar month after your website’s verified launch. There is no extra $300 charge at checkout. Hosting during the build and the first month of hosting and care after launch are included upfront.

The build covers one responsive page for one business and its location or service area, with up to eight sections, six short service summaries and two consolidated rounds of in-scope revisions.

Monthly service includes SEO, hosting, website care and standard annual renewal of the agreed covered domain while paid service is active. Edits share one prioritized batch of up to 30 implementation minutes; reviews and reporting are included separately. Additional pages, paid advertising and other extras need separate scope and pricing. Read the full package and terms before comparing it with another quote.

Ask what happens when you leave

Use these questions before you pay:

  • Will I be the domain owner and registrant, and whose account will hold it?
  • Will I receive the website files? Can another provider host them, and what would need rebuilding?
  • Which images, fonts or software require a continuing license or subscription?
  • What must I do to cancel, when does service stop and are there handoff charges?
  • Who handles the next domain renewal and hosting bill after I move?

Our website ownership checklist covers the accounts, files and access to confirm before a handoff.

Keep those answers with your proposal. At NoWeekends, your domain remains yours, and we provide website files and the agreed domain handoff without an agency handoff fee. You arrange future hosting and renewals after paid service ends.

Discuss your website. Tell us your services, service area and what visitors should do. We agree the scope and dates before payment.
